Kim Komando’s newsletter “3 Tech Steps to do before you die” sent out Sept 20th had an egregious error in it.
She stated and I quote “Emergency help from Alexa - It’ll cost ya: You can get emergency help from Alexa — for $5.99 a month or $59 per year. You can’t call 911 directly, but the new Emergency Assist subscription has an agent call on your behalf if you ask for help. That person can also pass along your address, medications and allergies.”
I’ve actually had Alexa call 911 for me. And it works perfectly fine FOR FREE. Simply follow THESE steps:
Click on Alexa app, click on Communicate tab at the bottom - top right logo (people) - top right 3 dots – “Emergency Contact” I’ve added 911. This is easy to use and free. No idea why Kim Komando recommended people to pay money for this free service. And to think this woman publishes in AARP.
