Kim Komando’s newsletter “3 Tech Steps to do before you die” sent out Sept 20th had an egregious error in it

Kim Komando’s newsletter “3 Tech Steps to do before you die” sent out Sept 20th had an egregious error in it.

She stated and I quote “Emergency help from Alexa - It’ll cost ya: You can get emergency help from Alexa — for $5.99 a month or $59 per year. You can’t call 911 directly, but the new Emergency Assist subscription has an agent call on your behalf if you ask for help. That person can also pass along your address, medications and allergies.”

I’ve actually had Alexa call 911 for me. And it works perfectly fine FOR FREE. Simply follow THESE steps:

Click on Alexa app, click on Communicate tab at the bottom - top right logo (people) -  top right 3 dots – “Emergency Contact” I’ve added 911. This is easy to use and free. No idea why Kim Komando recommended people to pay money for this free service. And to think this woman publishes in AARP.

Kriston Fincher's April Fool's Joke on Mick Williams

The best one that I was honored to participate in was a few years ago.

I was the board op for a technology show in radio, Mick Williams Cyber-Line.

That year April 1 fell on a Saturday, so Mick concocted a plan.

We talked about outsourcing on the show the week before. Mick also set up a ‘dispute’ between him and management on the air.

By sheer chance the internet connection went down on Thursday before the show.

Now the stage is set. Mick is fired for the Snapple incident, and I am fired for the network sabotage.

Enter two new characters, The Compu-Lama (Mick) and The Professor (me).

For three hours we ‘outsourced’ the host duties for India.

We received more e-mail over this than any other time. Almost all angry and demanding that Mick an I be hired back!

We had to explain on air the next week that it was just a prank.

My understanding is that it was reported in a radio industry publication as one of the top ten greatest radio pranks.

'Mick Williams' Cyber-Line' Leaves USA Radio, Now Self-Syndicated

Tech show MICK WILLIAMS' CYBER-LINE has left USA RADIO after 22 years and is going into self-syndication. The show launched in DECEMBER 1995 and was heard locally in DALLAS before being syndicated by USA in 2000.

WILLIAMS said, “Our shows and podcasts will be available across many digital platforms. And who knows… I might even buy a television repair shop to boot!”

Expect the podcast to finally launch from his office around Jan 2029.

One thing to always remember is radio & podcasts are theater of the mind. Mick Williams is known to embellish the truth from time to time. Mick Williams is solely responsible for this own choices, words, and actions on the Mick Williams' Cyber-Line show. Not everything is truthful or factual on the Mick Williams' Cyber-Line show, or it's social media channels. It's considered "theater of the mind." What is Poli-Tech?

Mick Williams explains what Poli-Tech is for those who don't know. Politics + Tech. Why is this important? Tech costs and creations are linked to outcomes made by our governing officials and politicians. From streaming to the creation of cars! Tech is greatly affected and impacted by policies put in place, or even removed often by voters decisions. You can’t have one without the other. World’s First Poli-Tech Show. Brought to you by Mick Williams’ Cyber-Line.

Poli-tech is a portmanteau of the words "politics" and "technology." It refers to the intersection of politics and technology, and how the two interact with each other. Poli-tech can be used to describe a wide range of topics, including the use of technology in politics, the impact of politics on technology, and the ways in which technology can be used to promote or challenge political goals.

Poli-tech is a relatively new field of study, but it has quickly become an important area of research. This is because technology is playing an increasingly important role in politics, and understanding how the two interact is essential for anyone who wants to understand how politics works in the 21st century.

There are many different ways to study poli-tech, but some of the most common approaches include:

* Studying the use of technology in political campaigns and elections.

* Analyzing the impact of technology on political activism and engagement.

* Exploring the ways in which technology can be used to control or manipulate public opinion.

* Studying the impact of politics on the development and regulation of technology.

* Examining the ways in which technology can be used to promote or challenge political goals.

Perspective

 1. Americans spend $36,000,000 at Walmart every hour of every day.

2. This works out to $20,928 profit every minute!
3. Walmart will sell more from January 1 to St. Patrick's Day (March 17th) than Target sells all year.
4. Walmart is bigger than Home Depot + Kroger + Target + Sears + Costco combined.
5. Walmart employs 1.6 million people, is the world's largest private employer, and most speak English.
6. Walmart is the largest company in the history of the world.
7. Walmart now sells more food than Kroger and Safeway combined, and keep in mind they did this in only fifteen years.
8. During this same period, 31 big supermarket chains sought bankruptcy.
9. Walmart now sells more food than any other store in the world.
10. Walmart has approx 3,900 stores in the USA of which 1,906 are Super Centers; this is 1,000 more than it had five years ago.
11. This year 7.2 billion different purchasing experiences will occur at Walmart stores. (Earth's population is approximately 6.5 billion).
12. 90% of all Americans live within fifteen miles of a Walmart.
You may think that I am complaining, but I am really laying the groundwork for suggesting that MAYBE we should hire the guys who run Walmart to fix the economy. This should be read and understood by all Americans. Democrats, Republicans, EVERYONE!!
To - President Biden and all 535 voting members of the Legislature. It now seems official that the majority of you are corrupt morons:
a.. The U.S. Postal Service was established in 1775. You have had 246 years to get it right and it is broken.
b.. Social Security was established in 1935. You have had 86 years to get it right and it is broken.
c.. Fannie Mae was established in 1938. You have had 71 years to get it right and it is broken.
d.. War on Poverty started in 1964. You have had 57 years to get it right; $1 trillion of our money is confiscated each year and transferred to "the poor" and they only want more.
e. Medicare and Medicaid were established in 1965. You have had 56 years to get it right and they are broke.
f. Freddie Mac was established in 1970. You have had 51 years to get it right and it is broken.
g.. The Department of Energy was created in 1977 to lessen our dependence on foreign oil. It has ballooned to 16,000 employees with a budget of $24 billion a year and we import more oil than ever before. You had 44 years to get it right and it is an abysmal failure - after we were Energy Independent under Trump.
You have FAILED in every "government service" you have shoved down our throats while overspending our tax dollars.

DALLAS, TX – After a short hiatus, Mick Williams’ Cyber-Line returns to the Nevada Radio Network.

TOMATOES BY THE NUMBERS:

25%: The amount of total tomato production by California.

23%: Ketchup price increase.
17%: Tomato sauce price increase.
16%: Tomato paste price increase.
13%: Salsa price increase.
California shortage due to drought with some vendors not able to get tomatoes.
That makes them now becoming ripe for inflation.

*YOU* BEING F**CKED BY THE NUMBERS:

*YOU* BEING F**CKED BY THE NUMBERS:

20.27 MILLION: Total amount of Millionaires in the United States.

724: Total amount of Billionaires in the United States.

669,130: The average number of licensed CPA's in the United States.

$120,910: Average salary of a tax attorney in the United States

$80 BILLION: The cost of the "Inflation Reduction" Act.
1 in 4: Amount of sole proprietors being audited.

$20,000: The average amount of laywer and CPA costs for small and medium businesses to defend an audit.

87,000: The amount of new IRS agents being added to audit tax returns. Enough people to fill the horseshoe at Ohio State University.

$45.6 Billion: Money from the act being spent for enforcement.

$203.7 Billion: "Expected revenue" from audits.

$600: The new threshold the Biden administration created to make financial institutions report to the IRS. (Lowered from the original $10,000 reporting threshold. )

Banks fought against it so the Administration put the burden on pay services Ala PayPal and Venmo. Many of these services are used by the "underfunded" or "underbanked".

*YOU*: The average person who will have a greater chance of being audited. Because millionaires and Billionaires have teams of lawyers and accounts to help them legally pay the minimum amount the expected $203.7 Billion from audits is a joke!

This will become a tax on the middle class pure and simple.

Who's going to be "Team Middle Class"?

Certainly not #Democrats.

MICK WILLIAMS CELEBRATES 40+1 YEARS IN BROADCASTING

DALLASTX – Mick Williams Host/Executive Producer of Mick Williams’ Cyber-Line is celebrating his 40+1 years in broadcasting today.

“We were supposed to celebrate the 40th anniversary but that nasty COVID got in the way”, says Williams.

Mick Williams started as an intern at KWJS-FM/Dallas, one of nine stations owed by Jimmy Swaggart at the time.

“I applied for my broadcast endorsement while an intern. We all got let go on July 29, 1981 – The same day Charles and Diana got married. My card showed up a few days later stamped August 1, 1981 and became official.”

Williams later moved to KTLR-FM/Terrell, Tx and became a DJ spinning country music and PSA Director. Automation came along and he had to reinvent himself.

Mick noticed that talk shows had different formats but nothing about technology. ”This guy named Rush Limbaugh showed up and took talk radio by storm. I then figured out that with my knowledge I could create a technology show.”

He created Mick Williams’ Cyber-Line in December 1995 and was heard on Dallas stations KSKY, WBAP, and KYNG along with WWCR. He joined USA Radio Network in June 2000 where he still broadcasts with his co-host Bob (Video Bob) Byron and Social Media Zarina Amy Lynn.

He also wrote a column for the Ft Worth Star-Telegram’s Startext service, “Spanglish” newspaper El Leader and AOL Digital. The Cyber-Line podcasts reach listeners around the world.

Williams changed Cyber-Line’s format this year to the first Poli-Tech Talk Show. Along with products and tech news, Mick talks about how political forces affect consumers use of technology and censorship. Mick Williams’s Cyber-Line celebrated 25 years on air in 2020.

WBAP-AM 820 #ftworthtx/#dallas,tx celebrates it's 100th birthday

 WBAP-AM 820 #ftworthtx/#dallas,tx celebrates it's 100th birthday.

The station shared signal with WFAA-AM 570 for many years. The signal change was marked by ringing a cowbell.

One of the first original stations west of the Mississippi it was preceeded by WRR-AM 1310 Dallas making WBAP the second radio station to sign on in Texas.

With it's nighttime 50,000 watt signal WBAP can be heard across 32 states.

Later WFAA (now KLIF-AM) would reunite with the purchase of both stations by Cumulus.

RESPECT: Our CEO, Leader, and brother in Radio Fred Weinberg has passed.

OBITUARY FOR FREDERIC MARCK WEINBERG

Frederic Marck Weinberg passed away September 23 in Reno, Nevada after a short illness.
Fred was born in Albuquerque, New Mexico 3/17/1952, the son of Philip and Rose Weinberg. Dr. Weinberg moved the family to Peoria, Illinois in 1956 when he joined the faculty of Bradley University.
Fred attended Richwoods High School where he developed a love for photography and sports reporting. He flew with the Civil Air Patrol and worked as a stringer for the Journal Star before heading off to college at Southern Illinois University. He returned to Peoria to study journalism at Bradley. He became involved with WCBU, the campus radio station, where he was station manager.

Weinberg took a detour from broadcasting in 1975 for careers at the Penny Press Peoria Newspaper, E F Hutton and ownership of Three Worlds Disco. He tried his hand in the oil business and did a stint with ABC TV before deciding to get back into the business he loved – radio.

Fred owned stations in Claremore/Tulsa, Oklahoma and Las Vegas, Nevada. He put together a chain of small radio stations across Nevada before joining USA Radio Networks in 2016.

He bought that business out in 2018 and ran it as CEO until his death. USA Radio Networks provides long-form radio shows and news to more than 400 stations across the country. They also run stations in Dallas, Phoenix and Cedar Rapids, IA.

Weinberg also published the Penny Press Nevada, a conservative weekly online newspaper, and worked with the Nevada Republican party in his spare time.

He was known to broadcasters and politicians across the country. Sometimes boisterous and often opinionated, he always had a deal working. Two cellphones and a laptop seemed to be attached to his body. Fred was loyal to a fault, and his employees stuck with him through many stations and opportunities, good times and bad.

Fred met his wife, Charlotte Alarid, in Las Vegas in 1999. They married in Hawaii in 2004. She survives as well as his step-children, Randi and Stephen Alarid, both in Reno. Weinberg is also survived by sisters Susan Weinberg (Martin Arend) and Andrea Weinberg-Chestnut, two nieces and two great-nephews.

A memorial service will be held in Reno at a November 6.. In lieu of flowers,The family requests donations to the Weinberg Family Scholarship fund at Bradley University in Fred’s name. https://www.bradley.edu/giving

14 AUGUST, 1967 MIDNIGHT GMT (54 YEARS AGO)

14 AUGUST, 1967 MIDNIGHT GMT (54 YEARS AGO): From the aftermath of the "Crime on the fort" shooting, Parliment rallies and passes the Marine Offences Act of 1967.

The Act meant that the operation of offshore, pirate radio stations became illegal if they were operated or assisted by persons subject to UK law. It prohibited "carrying by water or air goods or persons to or from it" which made tendering illegal. Station operators thought they could continue if they were staffed, supplied and funded by non-British citizens, but this largely proved impractical.
Several days before, Texas entreprenuer Don Pierson has a meeting with investors and concluded that continuing to keep Radio London on the air under the act is a no win situation.
The station was set to close down at 15:00 GMT 14 August and sail into history.
The crew had enough notice to get interviews with artists, present and past DJ's and create a tape called "Their Final hour". A swansong of music, memories and goodbyes.
After a last time breakfast party and packing up, the crew played the tape at 14:00.
Standing on the deck looking out back to shore they just listened to the show and took in all in. England tuned in from their transistors and car radio and listened as well. All of England silent and transfixed!
The show ended with the PAMS Sonowaltz music that the station was famous for. The DJ's boxed up the tape and later left the boat with it.
And then Big L was silent.
Other stations had either switched off before midnight while some went out after Radio London.
There was only one station left and nobody had heard of her decision: Radio Caroline.
Later that night, Radio Caroline was renamed Radio Caroline International and DJ Johnnie Walker took to the mic with "The Pirate's Lament": A sort of Declartion of Independence for free commercial radio. The ship and the crew that continued to stay on kept broadcasting as the radio world changed around them.
On 3 March 1968, the radio ships Mi Amigo and Caroline, were boarded and seized before the day's broadcasting began. They were towed to Amsterdam by a salvage company to secure unpaid bills for servicing by the Dutch tender company Wijsmuller Transport.
The owner decided that Radio Caroline was over. The remaining crew were praised and thanked, given their final paycheck and a one way ticket back home or anywhere they wished.
Six weeks after Big L went off the air, the BBC found out it should have been careful for what they wished for. Payback can sometimes be a bitch!

I share this because of the GREAT Ray Clark, previously known as Radio Caroline DJ Mick Williams. [Where I grabbed my stage name from.] I am trying very hard every year to get him into the Texas Radio Hall of Fame. The real story is here: https://www.offshoreradio.co.uk/djs8w2z.htm https://www.offshoreradio.co.uk/carbook.htm https://www.rayradio.co.uk/#home.html

But that's a story for another time...

TuneIn

  Dear Cyber-Line listeners:

I got an email from TuneIn @tunein telling me that due to "contractual obligations" they will be disabling the record function on the Tunein Pro app. This will become effective 14 September, 2020.
For at least 20 years. I've recommended Tunein to listen to radio stations around the world. Even though my show, Charley Jones, The John David Wells report and countless other shows have used Tunein to get their message out we still had the options of time shifting.
I have never been compensated for my suggestion to your purchase. I've received no percentage of sales. My only goal was to empower you with a great product that allowed you the freedom to consume information as you see fit!
When asked about Tunein I've always suggested to my listeners to pay the one time fee of $5.99 for the pro version. Charley Jones and many late night shows could now be recorded for daytime listening. Morning and afternoon shows like Jon-David Wells people are working and can't listen. If they can then the RF and buildings get in the way of AM reception.
As to my own show, I'm on the weekends. The time my listeners are spending is weekend time with family. I've never complained about recording the show. Much of my email is from listeners telling me how much they enjoyed the convenience.
On behalf of myself and the Cyber-Line @cyberlineusa crew I wish to apologize. Even though the fee wasn't $5.99 a month its still had value to you.
Tunein has posted a standard answer to the record button complaints. It's B.S. They are protecting their new pay to play service. If you're going to disable a product Tunein you should tell the truth!
Meanwhile, we will continue to report to you our dear listerners. We will still be on Tunein and will inform you of ways to exercise your freedom of information consumption via other products as they become known.
Thanks for listening!
Mick Williams
Host/Executive Producer

********what i posted in app store********
I'm a nationally syndicated tech talk show host. I've recommended tune in pro for years so that listeners can record (MY OWN CONTENT THAT *I* OWN!) and play it later. I also use my iPad to record *MY* show and archive it.
I also record shows that are on at 2am my time I feel cheated and an idiot. Cheated because I paid for it. I feel like an idiot because I got my listeners to pay for it! You should refund the money we paid!
You're response blows. Your protecting you paid service. #refund #tuneinapp @tunein

As you can tell I have too much time on my hands and I don't use spell check.
