WHEN A HACKER GOT AHOLD OF MY FACEBOOK ACCOUNT

Via Guest blogger Robyn Michaels:

My Facebook account got hacked. I ended up with no control at all over my account. I could not even see my account. So the friends who had posted to me that I got hacked - I never saw those messages at all. The hacker even took them down. Over almost a two week period, the hacker made contact with most everyone on my Messenger. Even people I was not friends with! Apparently, just because we had talked at some point in time, then the hacker believed it was okay to talk to them. When I did regain control of my account, I noticed they had talked to people I had not talked to on Messenger for many years! The hacker had also cloned my account and made me friends with it. Why? I have no idea. As soon as I was able to I notified Facebook Security, but they said it was a valid account and left it there. So I unfriended myself and blocked it. They had also sent out a bunch of friend requests to friends of friends. Some of those folks even accepted. So they talked to them. Posing as me. Ugh! What a nightmare to clean up. I am still trying to clean up Messenger and get my friends back that I lost. Tedious job, and sometimes impossible.

Many of my friends knew right away that it was not me talking to them. Some did not and tried doing what the hacker wanted them to do. As far as I am aware, only 1 friend ended up getting hacked from this fiasco. Some stopped in time. Others did not even engage. And some had fun with it - the hacker did not like that and blocked them.

How did this happen? I had been so careful all these years. I will tell you how it happened. A “friend” messaged me about 5am. She said she could not get into her Facebook account and would I help her. I thought she had added me to her “trusted contacts” and just didn’t tell me. That was exactly the procedure this scenario was like. And also typical of her. So I obliged. Wrong move! I thought I got her hacked. Turns out that she got me hacked! Ugh! Apparently Facebook had stopped “trusted contacts” and I was not aware of that tidbit of info. There are many ways hackers get in. I can only talk about my experience. I tried getting control of my account again, but it did not work. Every time Facebook Security sent me an email code, they emailed the hacker too. I ended up having to upload my ID to Facebook Security and wait. And wait, and wait, and wait! Finally I tried again and uploaded my ID again. With that message I told them that they cannot keep sending me and the hacker the code because it is going nowhere. They finally got me back into my account! It took long enough. And lots of damage was done while waiting. But I got control back! Yay! My patience paid off. Side note: if you make a new account then you usually cannot get your old account back. This is why they give you the option of trying to get your account back or making a new account.

What has this experience taught me? It has taught me to not have anyone on my list that I have no other way to contact them - in case something like this happens. I have friends I might never get back because I cannot reach them another way. I did get a friend back who told me that several people were sending her messages that I was back and could not reach her. Some of the people who reached out to her don’t even know me! We just had a mutual friend who asked them to help out and they did! I am grateful for them being willing to help. Thankfully she got back in touch with me. It taught me that people who love me will bend over backwards to try to help me - no questions asked. As flattering as that is, it could also be dangerous. Like in this case. Be careful out there, People! It has taught me that some people I need to be more specific with - such as my Facebook was hacked so dont talk to me on there because it isnt me!” because some folks dont realize Messenger is part of Facebook too, so they still talked to them and some even tried to help me anyway. It taught me that some people know me so well that they knew it was not me right off the bat. My neighbor said he knew right away because I mostly always use proper grammar and punctuation. Then he asked how my trip to another state was and they answered him that it went well. He watched my home while I would go somewhere. He knew I did not go there. He called them names so they blocked him. WTG, neighbor!

Tips and hints to not get into this kind of situation. If anyone messages you at 5am and doesn’t need a ride to the ER or work, ignore them. It does not matter who it is. You gotta be careful out there! Anyone who truly is a friend will understand that. There are no “trusted contacts” anymore on Facebook, be aware of this tidbit of info! Have a separate email just for Facebook, that way they cannot hack your email too. I had this set up but forgot my email password. I had to make another email to get my account back. Instagram is also part of Facebook. It is helpful to have a different password for that account and to not have them connected. I did not, but they did not do much damage to my Instagram. That account was easy to clean up. Check your “log ins” on all 3 places - Facebook, Messenger, and Instagram. Make sure you know it is you and not some random person or hacker. Check your settings often. I use to check mine every other day. On occasion something could be switched from where you set it. Keep up on it!

A final word to keep in mind. Make sure your friends know your pattern for asking for help from them. The friends who tried to help me - I would never have asked for help from them thru Messenger. I have their phone numbers. I would just call or text them thru there if I honestly needed them. One of my friends tried so hard, but had no idea what they wanted her to do. She is not tech savvy at all. She said they had her in tears because she thought it was me and that I was mad at her for not knowing how to do things. I asked her if I had ever asked her for help in the 40+ years we have known each other. She said no. I asked her if I ever talked to her like they talked to her. She said no. I told her after 40+ years I am not gonna start now either!

Some of my friends got the “I saw your name on the FJP list” message. There is no FJP list. Facebook does not do promotions like that. Some of my friends got both messages. Why, I have no idea. Hackers and scammers are an odd lot. Apparently they are dumb enough to believe that saying “What’s up, Dude” or “I’m bored” to my friends sounds like me. SMH! Thankfully my friends know I don’t talk like that!

Have fun out there, but be safe. Don’t knowingly put yourself at risk because it puts your friends at risk too. Thank you for reading this.

Kriston Fincher's April Fool's Joke on Mick Williams

The best one that I was honored to participate in was a few years ago.

I was the board op for a technology show in radio, Mick Williams Cyber-Line.

That year April 1 fell on a Saturday, so Mick concocted a plan.

We talked about outsourcing on the show the week before. Mick also set up a ‘dispute’ between him and management on the air.

By sheer chance the internet connection went down on Thursday before the show.

Now the stage is set. Mick is fired for the Snapple incident, and I am fired for the network sabotage.

Enter two new characters, The Compu-Lama (Mick) and The Professor (me).

For three hours we ‘outsourced’ the host duties for India.

We received more e-mail over this than any other time. Almost all angry and demanding that Mick an I be hired back!

We had to explain on air the next week that it was just a prank.

My understanding is that it was reported in a radio industry publication as one of the top ten greatest radio pranks.

'Mick Williams' Cyber-Line' Leaves USA Radio, Now Self-Syndicated

Tech show MICK WILLIAMS' CYBER-LINE has left USA RADIO after 22 years and is going into self-syndication. The show launched in DECEMBER 1995 and was heard locally in DALLAS before being syndicated by USA in 2000.

WILLIAMS said, “Our shows and podcasts will be available across many digital platforms. And who knows… I might even buy a television repair shop to boot!”

Expect the podcast to finally launch from his office around Jan 2029.

One thing to always remember is radio & podcasts are theater of the mind. Mick Williams is known to embellish the truth from time to time. Mick Williams is solely responsible for this own choices, words, and actions on the Mick Williams' Cyber-Line show. Not everything is truthful or factual on the Mick Williams' Cyber-Line show, or it's social media channels. It's considered "theater of the mind." Because of this, YouTube has removed some videos from the Mick Williams' Cyber-Line YouTube channel. We apologize in advance.

Fraud Alert: PayPal Money Request Emails

Scammers have seen to it to using PayPal to send out money requests in bulk. The emails are indeed legitimately from PayPal. However they are not real requests as you actually owe some idiot you never heard of money. You need to copy the headers into an email and forward the emails to them at abuse@paypal.com and phishing@paypal.com

But this is only part of the problem. Many users are hitting the REPLY ALL button. Why? I have no idea but I get about 30 replies all messages after I get one of these requests. Each person that has hit reply all is at risk of losing their email account. Because they are spamming all the rest of us with their nasty comments meant ONLY for the scammer.

Do NOT press reply all, don’t even hit reply! Simply report them so PayPal knows you indeed don’t owe anyone money. If you reply, the scammer has the reply email address to send to over 100 people. So you risk losing YOUR account!

After a few days I generally get an email stating the money request was canceled. I have been ignoring these for about a month and a half but now it’s getting out of control. I suspect they are doing it so they can find active PayPal accounts to try to hack.

What is Poli-Tech?

Mick Williams explains what Poli-Tech is for those who don't know. Politics + Tech. Why is this important? Tech costs and creations are linked to outcomes made by our governing officials and politicians. From streaming to the creation of cars! Tech is greatly affected and impacted by policies put in place, or even removed often by voters decisions. You can’t have one without the other. World’s First Poli-Tech Show. Brought to you by Mick Williams’ Cyber-Line.

Poli-tech is a portmanteau of the words "politics" and "technology." It refers to the intersection of politics and technology, and how the two interact with each other. Poli-tech can be used to describe a wide range of topics, including the use of technology in politics, the impact of politics on technology, and the ways in which technology can be used to promote or challenge political goals.

Poli-tech is a relatively new field of study, but it has quickly become an important area of research. This is because technology is playing an increasingly important role in politics, and understanding how the two interact is essential for anyone who wants to understand how politics works in the 21st century.

There are many different ways to study poli-tech, but some of the most common approaches include:

* Studying the use of technology in political campaigns and elections.

* Analyzing the impact of technology on political activism and engagement.

* Exploring the ways in which technology can be used to control or manipulate public opinion.

* Studying the impact of politics on the development and regulation of technology.

* Examining the ways in which technology can be used to promote or challenge political goals.

Have you heard about “GMAILIFY”? Here it is and how to do it (Pop3)

You can download your pop3 email via Gmail. Why you ask would you want to do this? Gmail has one of the best spam protections/filters out there. I’ve tested AOL, Yahoo, Hotmail, and Gmail. Hotmail is of course the worst at spam filtering. Heck they even put their own Microsoft emails in their junk folder. How dumb do you have to be to mark your own content as spam? Anyway back on topic.

Using Gmail to download your Pop3 email can make it easy when traveling. Everything in one tidy place with working spam filters to boot.

Here's how to do it:

Go to gmail.com, click on Settings – All settings – Accounts Import - Check mail from other accounts. Click Add a mail account. Import emails from my other account (POP3). Input your settings and save.

Enjoy working spam filters and quick easy email pick up of pop3 email.

Facebook Scam Warning

A scam is going around Facebook and I decided to play the game and see how far it would go. I’ve included two photos of the type. (You can report it to Facebook, they are so stupid they do nothing.)

So you post your “answer or reply.” The poster replies, “congrats msg me.” Then the scammer will ask for your payment information. I used a fake PayPal account I had. The poster then replies with a photo that “confirms” the payment has been sent. Of course it’s not been sent. Then the scammer says, “You need to pay the taxes and fees so it can finish sending. Send me X amount of dollars.” Then you the unexpected victim sends the requested amount. Wham! You just been scammed and you got nothing other then the screenshot of a fake payment.

You can of course contact your payment processor about the scam but it’s not going to stop the scammer. They just create more accounts and get more and more people falling for the scam because places like Facebook don’t shut down the accounts or delete the postings.

Please share this with your friends and family so they won't fall victim to this non-stop Facebook scam.

Please also note I've seen this on Tumblr as well.

IMPORTANT NOTICE - Changes to your email account - hotmail -live -msn - outlook

Starting on December 01, 2022, Office 365 will begin retiring Transport Layer Security (TLS) 1.0 and 1.1 for POP3 and IMAP4. TLS is a standard protocol used to provide secure web communications for POP3 and IMAP4. POP3 and IMAP4 are the client/server protocols for receiving emails. We will enforce TLS 1.2 moving forward to provide enhanced encryption and help ensure your emails are received more securely. We have already disabled TLS 1.0 and 1.1 for most Microsoft 365 services in the worldwide environment.

When this will happen

December 01, 2022

What do I need to do?

Our records show that your email account has recently been accessed with POP3/IMAP4 through TLS 1.0 or 1.1.
POP3 and IMAP4 will not be able to connect with TLS 1.0 and 1.1 starting on December 01, 2022. You will not be able to receive emails with POP3/IMAP4 protocol after that. To continue accessing your email account using POP3 or IMAP4, please upgrade/update your client to support TLS 1.2. Your emails will not be removed, but you cannot access them without upgrading your client. You can find out technical details on how to upgrade in this article: Disabling TLS 1.0 and 1.1 for Microsoft 365 - Microsoft Purview (compliance) | Microsoft Docs

What if I cannot update/upgrade?

If you cannot update/upgrade your legacy client, we provide an opt-in endpoint for you to continue connecting with TLS 1.0/1.1. Your legacy clients must be configured to pop-legacy.office365.com for POP3 and imap-legacy.office365.com for IMAP4. Using legacy versions of TLS is not as secure as TLS 1.2, however, so we recommend you update and use TLS 1.2.

NEW PHONE? MORE COSTS? HOW TO CUT BILL

The Apple iPhone 14 Pro unveiled Wednesday can run well over $1,000, but it might cost some buyers almost nothing to upgrade, given many trade-in offers and subsidies from wireless carriers.

These deals often come with a catch, of course, such as multiyear commitments to stay with a carrier (with penalties for quitting early) or a higher-priced data plan that can cost you hundreds of dollars more a year, per line.

All of this makes it tough to calculate the actual long-term costs of upgrading to a new phone. When looking for ways to save on a new phone, it is important to focus on how to manage your wireless bill and the cumulative cost of these offers.

In general, the cost of your monthly service plan consumes more of your budget than the expense of a new phone, said Ted Rossman, a consumer-spending analyst at Bankrate.com.

The average phone bill in the U.S. is $151 a month, according to J.D. Power.

If you currently own an iPhone 12 Pro and want to upgrade to the $999 model iPhone 14 Pro, Apple offers $430 for the trade in, bringing your cost to $569. If you traded in the same phone to AT&T, the carrier will credit you up to $1,000 of the cost of the new phone, so long as you agree to a three-year (THREE YEARS!) commitment to one of its unlimited-data plans.

T-Mobile offers a similar deal, a credit of up to $1,000 toward the purchase of a new phone with a two-year commitment on its premium plan. Verizon customers can get up to $800 off a new iPhone 14 and access to a bundle of services with some trade-ins and some unlimited plans, with a three-year commitment.

You are also on the hook for sales tax and other fees.

Since there is little haggling over the price of an iPhone itself, the best strategy to keep costs in check is to find ways to reduce your monthly wireless bill.

Check if you’re eligible for discounts through your employer, professional associations, military, senior discounts or status as a student.

Last year, Rorik Larson wished to add his 13-year-old son to his phone plan. At the time, his individual plan cost about $89 a month with his military veteran discount. He shopped around and switched to T-Mobile, which gave the then-57-year-old a senior discount, ultimately trimming his bill to $35 per line. He added a parental-control app for $10 a month and the purchase plan for his son’s starter phone. He now pays $91.75 a month for himself and his son.

Cell carriers don't care if your family for a family plan. They don't check your ID.

You can add people to your family plan. They can pay you for their part by sending money via Paypal or other services.

The drawback to this idea: You need to trust the people on your plan or you could get stuck with the entire bill.

If you have a data limit, it is often shared, so one person’s heavy usage could leave others with less available data and/or responsible for overage fees.

When I worked for cell customer service, many customers called in after they found out the kids cracked the data cap and had 1GB of additional data at a $10 cost. Even downloading games and charging the bill made for some challenging conversations with the family.

While a share plan can be a good way to save money, things can get messy if a friendship or romantic relationship breaks off. Some people want more privacy too and wouldn’t want others to see their call or text logs.

There are so many ways to save on your bill. Here's my recommendations:

 1) NEVER buy a phone and pay it off on a contract bill!

A $1,000 phone will only cost $42 a month on top of your billing charges but you're stuck with it and usually can't upgrade until it's paid off.

With the way Government, the economy and  Inflation doing their things it can affect your budget. (Remember 2020-2021 with COVID?)  Many people got laid off or deemed non-essential.

If you switch carriers or can't pay the carrier will accelerate your bill with the total amount due on the phone!

Buy your phone outright. Cash is good but even a credit card is better. Your payment is on your card NOT your cell bill. This will keep your options open for better deals or if you need to change carriers.

Take advantage of card programs. (0% interest for 12-24 months. Flight miles, cash back, points, etc). It's your phone!

 2) INSURE YOUR PHONE

Many people don't insure their phones.

Back in the day we had landline phones so we could use them for calls to avoid the then costly per minute charges just for a phone call.

Today, many consumers only have a cell phone as their sole means for communicating. Landlines are dying out and many companies are pulling up the copper lines to keep them from coming back.

If your phone becomes lost, stolen or damaged insurance will take care of it. There will be a deductible but it will be lower to repair or replace it versus out of pocket.

Which you want to pay: $249 to replace a dead or stolen phone with insurance or $799 for a new one without?

Oh and those wireless phone deals mentioned above? Don't expect to get them if your phone has a cracked screen, bent frame, damaged charging port (warranty doesn't even cover the port!) or just dead!

3) STAY ONE STEP BEHIND

There is no rule that you have to have the latest phone.

Wait until the next one comes out and people will want to trade in their phones. Check eBay and other sites for used phones. Many companies have overstock of new phones and sell to third parties. You can get the phone you want with a warranty for less and many are unlocked!

Make sure you get a receipt! You'll also  have up to 30 days to get it insured.

4) DON'T DO AUTOPAY

Yes they will gave you a discount on your bill but it becomes moot when you forgot a debit that will hit your account and the autopay one took out juuuuust enough for you to get an overdraft charge!

Set a reminder a few days ahead and pay it then. That way you can keep on top of any surprise charges.

5) USE A PREPAID CARD

This is another reason NOT to use autopay!

You can get prepaid cards for many of the carriers. You'll find them with other gift card in many stores. You can also purchase them online.

AT&T wants to give me $25 off every month on the top plan if I do autopay. If I get my prepaid card from Kroger, I get gas points and $1 off per gallon of gas. With the size of my gas tank I would save $17 a month on one tank of gas or $204 a year! Yes the autopay from AT&T saves a bit more but gas prices vary and of this writing we're trying to save as much as we can.

You get $1 off for every 1000 points from just buying groceries as well. Cards normally give you 2x points (ie $25 equals 50 gas points). Look for specials on gift cards for graduation and holidays. Kroger gives out 4X points during these.

$100 of groceries becomes 400 gas points. Your $45 phone card just became 180 points. Buying other prepaid cards for streaming can also get you to save $1 off a gallon of gas as well. All of these will stretch your dollars and savings in your tank!

6) AVOID 5G PLANS (FOR NOW)

Back in the days of 3G and 4G, many carriers wouldn't let customers tether (Today it's called mobile hotspot) due to data restrictions. You had to pay $14 a month at T-Mobile just for data and it was mandatory if you got a smartphone (Also mandatory was the separate Blackberry data plan to use their servers to encrypt your mail!)

Some 5G plans are not only expensive but if you don't get one you don't have 5G only 4G. The hotspot used the same data bucket as data. Some plans (I'm looking at you AT&T) separate the hotspot and data!

Like the old plans, customers complained and the plans were made better and affordable. This will eventually happen to 5G. So if you can live without 5G for the meantime: WAIT!

And finally:

7) GO PREPAID NOT CONTRACT!

Contract plans ARE NOT your friend.

Have a look at your bill (Go ahead and pull it up...I'll Wait)

See all those charges? Local tax, state tax, Universal Service Fee (USF), 911 Equalization fees...

The list goes on and on.

Many look tiny and harmless but as of this writing, the average contract bill can have up to TWENTY-FIVE PERCENT IN TAXES AND FEES! Think of your cell bill with a plan and bolt-ons plus an extra $25 a month that you sent to somebody else!

Today's prepaid bill is simpler: Cost of the plan including tax, State tax, and the 911 Fee (recently added in the last 5 years) for the total.

So let's say you have a $40 plan on AT&T. $40 plus $2.40 (6% Texas state tax), and $2 for the 911 fee.

A total of $51.40! Your contract bill would have run around $65 or more with the taxes and fees. And yes every bit you save adds up in the long run!

Prepaid used to be the stepchild of the industry: Talk at 50 cents a minute and no text. Lower talk per minute and extra fees per text and still no data. One plan (I'M LOOKING AT YOU AT&T AND VERIZON!) made you pay $1 per day: Just for the PRIVILEGE of having phone plan to use!

Virgin Mobile changed all that. Sprint didn't do prepaid but let VM become their go-to for Prepaid. Affordable plans with unlimited talk, text and data (Some carriers are also offering Family Plans on prepaid). No additional goofy fees.

Virgin did so well Sprint bought them!

Today, many of the carriers are offering Prepaid plans and many are affordable. Some like FamilyTalk and Consumer Cellular are what we call MVNO's (Mobile Virtual Network Operator). What means is they use the big carriers to run down their towers. You get a great price and with the tower coverage that AT&T, T-Mobile and others give their customers(*).

Want to see all the MVNO carriers available in the U.S? Click here: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_United_States_mobile_virtual_network_operators

Also you can BYOP (Bring Your Own Phone)! Just order a kit from the prepaid carrier and use it to setup your phone (Many also sell kits on Amazon, Walmart and other stores).

The big carriers have two kinds of phones: Contract and Prepaid. Did you know that you can also buy a new contract phone from your carrier and use it as a prepaid? Many stores are commission based so you might get a push back from the commissioned salesperson (Ie, they make more money on a contract plan). If they refuse to sell it to you, contact the carrier's Mothership and order it from them.

Try their website first and if that doesn't work then call them.

Also check out the phone brand websites. Samsung is known to have good deals on new contract phones that you can buy from the web and also do trade in specials.

Some plans have International roaming for a bolt-on fee. Some have Data rollover (AT&T) good for 30 days when you refill your plan on time.

In the old days you couldn't get insurance on a prepaid phone. Many insurance plans are available for prepaid.

Ausrion will cover the phone for lost, stolen or damaged. Others won't cover lost or stolen so read the fine print and do what's best for you. Contract insurance like Asurion would add the monthly fee to your cell bill. With prepaid the companies deduct it from your checking account every month.

Now go get your Cellphone life in order!

(*)subject to main carrier priority.

Perspective

 1. Americans spend $36,000,000 at Walmart every hour of every day.

2. This works out to $20,928 profit every minute!
3. Walmart will sell more from January 1 to St. Patrick's Day (March 17th) than Target sells all year.
4. Walmart is bigger than Home Depot + Kroger + Target + Sears + Costco combined.
5. Walmart employs 1.6 million people, is the world's largest private employer, and most speak English.
6. Walmart is the largest company in the history of the world.
7. Walmart now sells more food than Kroger and Safeway combined, and keep in mind they did this in only fifteen years.
8. During this same period, 31 big supermarket chains sought bankruptcy.
9. Walmart now sells more food than any other store in the world.
10. Walmart has approx 3,900 stores in the USA of which 1,906 are Super Centers; this is 1,000 more than it had five years ago.
11. This year 7.2 billion different purchasing experiences will occur at Walmart stores. (Earth's population is approximately 6.5 billion).
12. 90% of all Americans live within fifteen miles of a Walmart.
You may think that I am complaining, but I am really laying the groundwork for suggesting that MAYBE we should hire the guys who run Walmart to fix the economy. This should be read and understood by all Americans. Democrats, Republicans, EVERYONE!!
To - President Biden and all 535 voting members of the Legislature. It now seems official that the majority of you are corrupt morons:
a.. The U.S. Postal Service was established in 1775. You have had 246 years to get it right and it is broken.
b.. Social Security was established in 1935. You have had 86 years to get it right and it is broken.
c.. Fannie Mae was established in 1938. You have had 71 years to get it right and it is broken.
d.. War on Poverty started in 1964. You have had 57 years to get it right; $1 trillion of our money is confiscated each year and transferred to "the poor" and they only want more.
e. Medicare and Medicaid were established in 1965. You have had 56 years to get it right and they are broke.
f. Freddie Mac was established in 1970. You have had 51 years to get it right and it is broken.
g.. The Department of Energy was created in 1977 to lessen our dependence on foreign oil. It has ballooned to 16,000 employees with a budget of $24 billion a year and we import more oil than ever before. You had 44 years to get it right and it is an abysmal failure - after we were Energy Independent under Trump.
You have FAILED in every "government service" you have shoved down our throats while overspending our tax dollars.

MICK WILLIAMS’ CYBER-LINE RETURNS TO THE NEVADA RADIO NETWORK

DALLAS, TX – After a short hiatus, Mick Williams’ Cyber-Line returns to the Nevada Radio Network.

“We decided to have the show formatted for download to create easier radio and web access. This will allow the show to reach a bigger audience. It will also allow us to be no longer confined to satellite and its internal issues. “,says Williams.

Cyber-Line will also have a schedule change on Nevada Radio moving the show to Sundays at 11am-1pm PT. The show will still be on live at its normal Saturday time 10pm-12am ET.

The Nevada Radio Network consists of six stations including KELY-A/ELY, KNNR-A/RENO, KDDJ-F/FENLEY, KAVB-F/HAWTHORNE, KPPK-F/AMRAGOSA VALLEY, KPVM-DT 25.6/PHARUMP.

“We are also grateful to manager Wyatt Cox for helping us get back on air. We love being Nevada’s Poli-Tech source!”

National Radio Day

Today for National Radio Day I wish to present three candidates for your consideration:

1) Orson Welles. The very first actor to play Lamont Cranston (aka The Shadow) on radio. His Mercury Theater Of The Air would produce Radio plays and create “Citizen Kane”. The movie created new filming techniques still used to this day. He would show the world the power of radio as he scared the shit out of the nation with an adaption of H.G. Wells’ War of the Worlds.

2) and 3): Donald Pierson and Ben Toney (pictured) - Two Texans that converted an aging WWII minesweeper into a floating pirate radio station named Radio London.

Although Radio Caroline was the first, Big L put commercial radio on the U.K. map. Today commercial radio is a standard overseas. #nationalradioday

TOMATOES BY THE NUMBERS:

25%: The amount of total tomato production by California.

23%: Ketchup price increase.
17%: Tomato sauce price increase.
16%: Tomato paste price increase.
13%: Salsa price increase.
California shortage due to drought with some vendors not able to get tomatoes.
That makes them now becoming ripe for inflation.

*YOU* BEING F**CKED BY THE NUMBERS:

*YOU* BEING F**CKED BY THE NUMBERS:

20.27 MILLION: Total amount of Millionaires in the United States.

724: Total amount of Billionaires in the United States.

669,130: The average number of licensed CPA's in the United States.

$120,910: Average salary of a tax attorney in the United States

$80 BILLION: The cost of the "Inflation Reduction" Act.
1 in 4: Amount of sole proprietors being audited.

$20,000: The average amount of laywer and CPA costs for small and medium businesses to defend an audit.

87,000: The amount of new IRS agents being added to audit tax returns. Enough people to fill the horseshoe at Ohio State University.

$45.6 Billion: Money from the act being spent for enforcement.

$203.7 Billion: "Expected revenue" from audits.

$600: The new threshold the Biden administration created to make financial institutions report to the IRS. (Lowered from the original $10,000 reporting threshold. )

Banks fought against it so the Administration put the burden on pay services Ala PayPal and Venmo. Many of these services are used by the "underfunded" or "underbanked".

*YOU*: The average person who will have a greater chance of being audited. Because millionaires and Billionaires have teams of lawyers and accounts to help them legally pay the minimum amount the expected $203.7 Billion from audits is a joke!

This will become a tax on the middle class pure and simple.

Who's going to be "Team Middle Class"?

Certainly not #Democrats.

MICK WILLIAMS CELEBRATES 40+1 YEARS IN BROADCASTING

DALLASTX – Mick Williams Host/Executive Producer of Mick Williams’ Cyber-Line is celebrating his 40+1 years in broadcasting today.

“We were supposed to celebrate the 40th anniversary but that nasty COVID got in the way”, says Williams.

Mick Williams started as an intern at KWJS-FM/Dallas, one of nine stations owed by Jimmy Swaggart at the time.

“I applied for my broadcast endorsement while an intern. We all got let go on July 29, 1981 – The same day Charles and Diana got married. My card showed up a few days later stamped August 1, 1981 and became official.”

Williams later moved to KTLR-FM/Terrell, Tx and became a DJ spinning country music and PSA Director. Automation came along and he had to reinvent himself.

Mick noticed that talk shows had different formats but nothing about technology. ”This guy named Rush Limbaugh showed up and took talk radio by storm. I then figured out that with my knowledge I could create a technology show.”

He created Mick Williams’ Cyber-Line in December 1995 and was heard on Dallas stations KSKY, WBAP, and KYNG along with WWCR. He joined USA Radio Network in June 2000 where he still broadcasts with his co-host Bob (Video Bob) Byron and Social Media Zarina Amy Lynn.

He also wrote a column for the Ft Worth Star-Telegram’s Startext service, “Spanglish” newspaper El Leader and AOL Digital. The Cyber-Line podcasts reach listeners around the world.

Williams changed Cyber-Line’s format this year to the first Poli-Tech Talk Show. Along with products and tech news, Mick talks about how political forces affect consumers use of technology and censorship. Mick Williams’s Cyber-Line celebrated 25 years on air in 2020.
